MY LUTE IS HERE

MY LUTE IS HERE
dang I'm kinda built like this lutenist here smh. what da dog doin

In high school, I was a band kid to the core. If there was any ensemble I could find myself playing in, chances are I was playing in it. I loved playing the trumpet and growing with the instrument, but I have since moved on from my horn and have not been playing anything for nearly five years.

About two weeks ago I started practicing with a renaissance lute in an attempt to bring music back into my life as a practice. Most of my work so far has been related to sitting properly, holding the instrument securely and basic exercises with the right hand. However I have begun to read tablature and am dipping my toes into playing rudimentary tunes. Below is the first presentation I have of my progress, a brief piece titled Calleno:

next one I post will have the instrument in view lol way to go Ben

Here is what a much more experienced player sounds like with this tune:

"Blame Not My Lute" goes so crazy as an album title btw

I have never played any kind of lute (it's the name for the family of instruments with a body, neck and strings ☝️🤓) or the renaissance lute before, so these are completely uncharted waters for me. For now I will keep practicing my exercises and see where perseverance can take me <3
